How do we repair your asphalt driveway?

At CPA Pavement Services, we offer various asphalt driveway repair options depending on your specific driveway. However, the most common form of fixing a driveway is to ‘patch’ the damaged asphalt areas. Patching your asphalt driveway is a quick, clean process. Our driveway specialists will sawcut around the patch area and excavate the damaged asphalt. Sawcutting allows us to have clean lines around the patch area. Once excavated, we will address any sub-base issues (having to add stone, recompact existing stone base, etc). Finally, we install a clean, smooth asphalt surface and seal the sawcut joints with tar tape (stopping any water from permeating through the seams).

Driveway Sinking at Garage Entrance

One of the most common issues our customers call us about is a driveway sinking at the entrance to a garage. This can be caused by multiple factors but is typically either caused by water erosion or an uncompacted stone base under the driveway. If this sinking is the only sign of wear on the driveway, then a patch may be the best solution. However, you will likely be able to see the difference in material between the new and old asphalt. Another option, if more of the driveway is showing light-medium wear, would be to overlay the existing driveway (shown to the right). We would still address the underlying issue in front of the garage, but we would then pave over the entire existing asphalt driveway. This process allows a more seamless solution to the issues. The best way to truly know what is going on with your driveway sinking and what needs to be done is to have one of our paving professionals come out and evaluate your driveway.

Cracks in Driveway

The solution to the cracks in your driveway depends on the type of cracks. Linear cracks, or cracks that go mostly in a straight line, are typically either treated with liquid crackfill or the area is patched. While liquid crackfill is more affordable, it not the strongest solution. If your driveway has radial cracks, or cracks that look like spider webs, then you would likely need to either patch or replace the driveway. Liquid crackfill will not work on radial cracks. Depending on the size of the cracked area will determine whether a patch or replacement is recommended. Replacing vs Repairing my Driveway
